Season Timeline & Roster Availability
The State Team season runs from April through July 31 and operates with a maximum 10-man roster to ensure meaningful development and consistent in-game opportunities for every athlete.
If an open roster spot becomes available during the season, a private or group training session may be used as an evaluation. These sessions serve as a tryout-style opportunity, allowing the coaching staff to assess skill level, fit, and readiness before selecting any athlete to join the program.
Player Development Model
Player development extends beyond standard practices. Athletes participate in game-based simulations that break down offensive and defensive concepts in live settings.
Offensive development includes:
Defensive development includes:
One-on-one training is strongly recommended and available. Parents may book private or group sessions online to support individual development.
Attendance Expectations
Athletes are expected to attend at least 95% of all team practices. While optional training or development sessions are not mandatory, all official team practices, programming events, fundraisers, and special events are required.
If an athlete is unable to attend, a parent must notify a coach or team manager in advance so the program can plan accordingly.
Roster Philosophy & In-Game Development
Many AAU programs carry 15 or more athletes, which often limits meaningful in-game opportunities. While this may work at the high school or college level, AAU basketball requires live reps for real development.
Our approach prioritizes:
Minutes are earned, but athletes are not removed and forgotten. Instead, players are coached, corrected, and given opportunities to re-enter the game and grow. This prepares athletes to return to their school programs with more confidence, experience, and game reps.
Travel, Nutrition & Tournament Logistics
For the State Team, parents are primarily responsible for transportation to and from tournaments. If transportation becomes an issue, families must communicate at least one week in advance so arrangements can be explored.
Nutrition is a priority. Parents may send $25–$30 to the program, allowing staff to:
Standards, Sponsorship & Representation
The State Team is a direct representation of the program due to strong local sponsorships and community partnerships. Sponsors and partners may attend tournaments and events, which raises the level of professionalism expected from all athletes.
Athletes are expected to:
Academic Expectations
All athletes are expected to maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA. If an athlete is struggling academically, families are encouraged to communicate early. Tutoring resources are available to support academic success and growth.
Bullying Policy
There is zero tolerance for bullying, whether in person or through social media. Any form of harassment, intimidation, or disrespectful behavior will be addressed immediately to ensure a safe and supportive environment for all athletes.
Medical Oversight & Athlete Wellness
The program’s Medical Director, Dr. Blaise, provides professional oversight and access to services through his clinic, including performance and recovery support, injury-related guidance, and wellness resources.
In addition, Dr. Blaise provides a free mental health wellness check-in for parents and athletes, reinforcing the program’s commitment to total athlete well-being.
Competition Focus
