About the League

Elementary Basketball League Information

Who Am I?

My name is Chris Taylor, a proud Polk County native who grew up on a farm surrounded by cattle since I can remember. I am married and blessed with four children, which is why developing kids both on and off the court is so close to my heart.

I currently serve as the Director of Development and Sponsorships with Filling the Lane (FTL) AAU program, where we competed on the Puma Circuit and finished Top 100 this year. Since 2014, I’ve worked with over 100 NCAA Division I and Division II coaches, helping athletes gain exposure and development opportunities.

In addition, I am the Founder and Director of Sponsorships & Partnerships with WhoBuzzzn, where I collaborate with schools and organizations such as Winter Haven High School, Victory Christian Academy, and State Farm, among others. My role is to build sponsorships and partnerships that elevate programs, strengthen communities, and take opportunities for kids to the next level.

Developing young people, providing exposure, and creating growth through basketball and education is not just what I do — it’s my purpose.

League Mission: Unity & Camaraderie

This league is different from most others. In many youth leagues, parents and kids on opposing teams don’t know each other — they walk past one another awkwardly, only speaking when necessary. That’s not the culture we’re building here.

Our mission is to create unity and camaraderie by making sure kids and parents connect, support, and grow together as one community. Every child will get equal attention and development opportunities, and every parent will feel part of the family.

Skill Development & Practices

Every practice is designed to help players learn at a high level while having fun.

  • League Practices: All teams practice together in a structured system.
  • Stations Training:

    • 6 total stations, each run by a coach.
    • Kids rotate every 7 minutes.
    • Focused teaching on fundamentals at each station.
  • Development Goals: Coaches will stress key points at each station to ensure every kid develops the right way.

Defensive Concepts Taught

Our players will learn advanced defensive principles in a way that’s fun and easy to understand:

  • Diamond Press
  • 2-3 Defense (with Pop & Trap variations)
  • Man-to-Man Defense (help, trap, deny pass)
  • 1-3-1 Defense (trapping, first-pass denial)
  • Hand Signals & Communication Skills

This means your child won’t just “play the game” — they’ll understand the game at a high level.

Special Award

📚 Reading Award: The player who reads the most books during the season will be recognized with a special award. We believe in building champions on the court and in the classroom.
